Of Birds, Plants, and Algorhythms*

house_sparrowDo birds have agendas?

To-do lists?

Ten year plans?

Do plants wake up knowing how many cells they’ll multiply and divide?

Then why should I?

Do birds wake up knowing exactly where they’ll fly?

Or do they just follow every simple urge:

i am thirsty, find water

my chick is hungry, find food

must build nest.

Do plants stress over long division

or do they map out the trajectory of their roots?

Or do they follow an algorhythm*

hidden deep inside?

Then why not I?
